"There are no winners, only survivors." Frank Gifford

  • Nov 9, 2011
The stock market has a total crash creating skyrocketing inflation, paper money becomes no good, gas stations run dry and nothing is as it was.

This is the scenario of "Survivors" and when this happens there are a select few who have had the foresight to plan ahead so that they can survive in the new world created by this financial earthquake.

Many of the survivors  who have planned for this were former or present military members, most have a strong faith.

Looting begins and there are riots in many of the cities, normal law ends and the gangs and ruthless control the cities. Many of the people in this group are former convicts or gang members and with the dregs of society in the evil group and the honorable people and former military people in the group of people who still have a standard of living that is ethical, the book reminded me of Stephen King's "The Stand" with the battle of good vs. evil forces for world domination.

The story is suspenseful and interesting but I was never drawn to the characters and felt that some of the concepts were too extreme to accept. Being said, I was interested in the story and wanted to see how it would develop.
