Located in the quaint rural town of Templeton and the Paso Robles Wine Country is 15 Degrees C.... aptly named for the perfect temperature to store wine at. This is a great little wine shop and bar that has a phenomenal selection of wines, cheese, beer and a gaggle of other trinkets. Owner Ali Carscaden is usually in the shop and more than happy to help you find a great bottle of wine, serve you the flight of the night, pick out a great cheese or just chat it up about wine and food. She throws off this cute Pippy Longstocking vibe that works and don't be fooled by the charm, she is a certified Sommelier and a wealth of knowledge.
The Shop What separates this wine shop from others in the area is the selection of wine (cheese & beer), the great bocadillos, and the atmosphere this place has. Most wine shops and restaurants in the area focus on local wines only but 15 Degrees C specializes in wines from France, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, and other prominent wine growing regions. You can find a few hard to find wines as well as wines from Napa, Sonoma, Oregon and other areas. They constantly have something going on whether it be a food and wine pairing, a regional flight, happy hour or one of my favorites, Bubbles and Bling where Ali will bring in a local Jeweler and server Sparkling all night.... Not a bad way to shop for a Mothers Day gift.
When You Go Sit at the bar and chat it up with the staff and customers. I try to get over to 15 Degrees C at least once a week and usually run into a fellow winemaker or vineyard manager sitting at the bar having a beer or pouring one of their wines. More often than not these guys are more than happy to share the wine of the day or answer any questions you may have. I like to grab a beer at the bar and spend some time going over the wines in the racks..... oh yeah, and make sure to try to cured tomato thing they sell.... it is crazy good!
