Scentsy: The Hottest New Thing in Candles!

I love candles in their purest form, so I was a bit skeptical when my buddy sent me a wickless Scentsy candle as a gift. In my mind, there was nothing more calming than lighting a (mildly) scented candle by the bath, on my nightstand, or really anywhere to help me unwind. Still, I kept an open mind and gave it a try and I'm happy to say that after only one time using it, I'm totally in love with this wickless candle!

Scentsy candles are a great alternative to burning regular candles that emit smoke, can cause fires, and are dangerous around children or pets. Instead of a wick on fire, you have a "warmer," which is essentially a low-wattage lightbulb inside of a pretty case with a tray on top of it where you put the cube of wax. The heat from the lightbulb gradually melts the wax, giving the same effects as a normal candle burning. The warmer has holes in it so that just enough light comes out to give off the same amount of light that a candle would. All in all it's been a great discovery, but like everything else it's not without a few minor drawbacks.

-It's super affordable. The block that my friend sent me has 6 cubes in it ($5--which is cheaper than pretty much any sizeable candle I've ever seen), and you pretty much only need 1 at a time depending on the size of the room you are using it in nd how strong of a scent you want. I only used half a cube my first time and I can still smell the candle from across my room. I'm pretty sure that they sell them in costco sized portions, too! The warmers are a bit on the pricy side(mine was $30) , but not when you consider how you only need to buy 1. There are tons of super cute designs, though, so I may consider buying another one.

-It smells sooo good. Since the wax is highly concentrated the smell is definitely noticeable, but not overbearing even to someone like me with a sensitive sense of smell. They have so many different scents, too, so it'll be a while before I get bored. I'm super excited to try my next one.

-It's safer and better for the environment, in theory.

-It's a lot cleaner than burning candles. All you have to do is clean the warming tray. Also, I hate when my pillar candles only burn down the middle and i can't get the unused wax to go down...so it's cool that these avoid all of that completely.

-The warmer does get pretty hot....hot enough to where I wouldn't leave it on all night like you might leave a nightlight on--unless I get something to place it on.

-Yes, it does use electricity. Luckily it's only a 25 watt bulb so even the most frequent users shouldn't notice it in the electric bill.

-You can't buy it in stores, so its a bit inconvenient at times and you have to pay shipping. It's super easy to find a consultant online, though.

I'm super stoked to have these candles and would definitely recommend giving it a try! They also sell car air fresheners and sprays and all that good stuff.
