Best tour for SD locals to do

On Valentine's Day, the girlfriend and I purchased a tour from GoCar (through Groupon.) We were looking for things to do in her hometown of San Diego, since we didn't want to travel much for the weekend.  We've always seen this funny yellow cars drive around downtown and the beach areas of SD, but we've never done it ourselves. So we finally tried it out and loved it! I highly recommend this to anybody who lives in SD or SF but want to explore their city. It's the perfect way to do it because it's fun, not so expensive and the GPS guided tour gives you all these fun facts about the places you see.

The car is safe and very easy to drive. It took seconds to get used to and I had it down like no time. It feels kind of weird since small cars appear to big when you're on the road. The car is a bit noisy, but you get used to it. You get to wear these cool helmets, making the entire experience cool for photos - so don't forget your camera.

The tour itself (we took the Point Loma tour) zips through SD, and I heard my girlfriend say many times, "Wow, I've never been here, before!" or "Woah, I never knew that!" So, for the locals - definitely something to do if you haven't already.

Here's the only thing you need to know about GoCar: the length required to do each tour. We paid for 2 hours of driving, and were charged an additional amount for the time that we went over. That was fine, I had no problem with that because it was really fun! However, it felt like their tours are setup so that you must be driving the entire time. You'll notice that they encourage you to take stops to take photos, grab a meal, enjoy the atmosphere - but that is for sure to go over the time period you've purchased (1 or 2  hours.) We drove and stopped TWICE to take photos, and found ourselves an hour over what we paid for. So, keep that in mind when you go. But even with that, I'm happy to report that once you're  out there, it's lots of fun and you won't mind completing the whole tour. JUST DO IT. How many times are you ever in a little yellow car driving around town?
