I love the food they sell here and I'm very fond of the idea. What a shame the prices will break the bank. Also, would it kill Mackey to make Whole Foods more established in the national eye? I just moved to Buffalo, and the closest Whole Foods is in Toronto - a 90-minute drive which only people who have passports can make! The most accessable without a passport is a four-hour drive, in freaking Pittsburgh! Big waste of energy to make trips like that!

Though Trader Joe's is my grocery store of choice for afford-ability, on a recent stop at Whole Foods I couldn't help but notice two things. First, it isn't as expensive as I previously thought. Most staple organic items that aren't processed or micro-packaged are priced about the same as even a regular grocery store. Quality goods, but we still call it "Whole Paycheck." The selection of natural and organics is hard to beat, but certain health claims are more than just a little over-rated.

   I like Whole Foods. I know it is easy to hate them for their prices and gigantic presences. I can't afford to shop there often but I know that Whole Foods moving into our part of the country made the local chains pay attention. For the first time they offer organic options and nature products. They even developed a "generic organic brand" in order  to compete. The purpose of this review is to address the most common criticism of Whole Foods: that it is way too expensive. I agree that for everyday shopping, the prices are considerably higher than traditional supermarkets. It is difficult to compare prices for non-organic vs organic or hormone free/free range/sustainably raised vs not, but still, I concede the point.    Great bargains are to be found, however, if you are heading to Whole Foods for lunch and not to buy groceries.    Alright, this is more of an experiment than anything else.      That being said, here is my take on Whole Foods.  Awesome selection, great service.  Downside is that it is atrociously expensive and at the same time the store is flawed by its clientele, who are generally people who suffer greatly from an overly inflated sense of self entitlement.

It took me forever to check out Whole Foods, also known as "Whole Paycheck" due to the fact that it costs a bit more to eat organically.  There was a LOT that I loved about the store: it's clean and inviting, and if you want to eat healthy- well hey, this is the place! Everything from brownies to pizza has been re-made into something sans preservatives, and it's all pretty tasty,too!  The staff is helpful and friendly, and there seem to be plenty available to help , should you …

I don't live anywhere near a Whole Foods Markets, though whenever I find myself near one I make it a point to spend some time inside their heavenly gates. I love Whole Foods. You could say it is the equivalent of a foodies Disneyland- with their fresh food counters being their main attraction. I think Whole Foods makes your grocery shopping an experience rather than a chore and I just can't get enough of it.     Their fresh produce section is gigantic, what's not to love about …
