Amazon has serious quality control issues in their jewelry department, and these earrings are a perfect example. They fall far short of the advertised 4.5 mm. They are very pretty earrings, but I don't believe the ones I received were anywhere near 1 cttw. None of the jewelry stores I went to carried black diamond studs, so I couldn't compare them to pairs that were actually weight certified. The backs are very loose, so much so that I'm sure I will be paranoid when I wear them, checking my ears all night long. I did decide to keep them, since I got them for such a good price.
