All Roads Lead To 3rd & Union - New Music Review

It's not everyday that you are able to say you are one of the original fans of an act.  I am offering you the opportunity to do just that with my review of "3rd & Union" the self-titled release by a new duo.  The duo was formed in 2012 and is composed of Palmer Lee and Chase Coy.  You may have heard of Chase as he signed to Universal Republic in 2010 and released an album on the label.  The combination of that and self-released material has led him to a fan base of over 225,000 likes on Facebook.

Earlier this year, Coy met Palmer Lee in class at Belmont University.  The two collaborated on a song to be sung at Coy's sisters wedding.  After working together, the two discovered they had a great songwriting chemistry and the idea of becoming a country duo was born.  The two take musical influences from acts such as Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, and The Civil Wars.

After a few songwriter rounds which began at Hotel Indigo on 3rd & Union in Nashville, the newfound duo demoed a track.  They brought the song to the Schmidt brothers who own a studio outside of Nashville.  The brothers were blown away by how honest and raw 3rd & Union were and encouraged them to work on a full album.  In June, they returned with 10 songs, nine that were co-wrtten by Palmer and Chase and "Champagne" written by Chase, which would turn into their debut CD.

The album was released to iTunes on November 13th to rave reviews from fans and industry.  The album rose to #29 on the country album charts.  Although Chase will still cater to his solo fans, he said this "The focus is on 3rd & Union because we really feel like there is something special there."

There is a free sampler on noisetrade.com/thirdandunion which "You really have no excuse to at least pick that up."  I started with the four sampler songs and 15 minutes later headed to iTunes to purchase the whole album.  There is nothing I appreciate more than young artists with a passion for what they do and that comes across in all that has been included with 3rd & Union's debut.  The songs are heartfelt and real - traits that most artists have given up for public appeal.

It's a good thing that you can't wear out digital tracks because this album has been on repeat since I have downloaded the album.  For only $7.99 you can get all 10 songs on iTunes.  If you choose to not make the move, just remember I told you so, as something big is on the horizon at 3rd & Union.  Be sure to follow the duo on all social media (@thirdandunion) (Facebook.com/thirdandunion), etc.  I can't wait to see what the future holds for this talented act!
