After reading the first collection of "The Argyle Sweater" comics, entitled THE ARGYLE SWEATER, "The Argyle Sweater" immediately became my favorite single-panel comic strip. "The Argyle Sweater" is often compared to "The Far Side" and called "the next Far Side", but that's really not the case. Though the style of humor is similar in both strips, no strip will ever replace "The Far Side". Also, "The Far Side" had a great many scientific-laced jokes, but "The Argyle Sweater" has more gags that reference something from literature or pop culture. There are also a lot of strips with animals, insects, and fairy tale creatures. Some of my favorite strips in 50% WOOL, 50% ASININE are the ones the parody THE WIZARD OF OZ, the one that features VeggieTales, and the one that references TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD. All of the comics in the book are featured in full-color glory. 50% WOOL, 50% ASININE is a must-have for anyone who is a fan of the strip as well as a great book for anyone who enjoys great comic strips.
