I have been homeschooling for 13 years now, graduating my oldest daughter in June! We have used a variety of curricula over the years, but I have to agree that Abeka's phonics is the gold standard. I did not use it with my eldest (didn't know about it), then discovered it when I needed a very focused reading program for my first son. We followed the teacher's guide recommendations, started him with cursive right away (recommended for boys especially), and in addition, used the Abeka large size phonics flash cards. The 11x13 size and giant letters really helped him read more easily. Thanks for the review; may many new homeschoolers benefit from it!
