Crazy about Shoes
It all began with Cinderella's Slippers...
Adidas > Wiki

Founded in 1924 by two German brothers, Adolf "Adi" and Rudolf Dassler, the company was originally named Dassler shoes. In 1948, supposedly after a sibling squabble, Rudolf left Dassler shoes to create what would later be known as Puma. Adi changed the design to the infamous three strips and changed the name to Adidas, a combination of his first and last name.

The three stripes were created as a means to keep the foot stable but, eventually became the logo. Adidas became the "go-to" shoe and highly sought out for Olympic athletes.

By the 1980s, Adi had passed away and his wife who had run the company for six years had died. There was a lack of solid leadership and the company had greatly misjudged the competition from newbie Nike.

In 1986, Run DMC put Adidas right back on the map with their hit, "My Adidas". After that, Adidas became a main element of hip-hop. From cardboard dancefloors in South Bronx to world arenas of today's hottest selling hip-hop acts, as the first company to collaborate with a hip-hop group, Adidas will forever be associated with hip-hop. It is as hip-hop as Nikes are Michael Jordan.
