Actually, that would be the Mac Pro, but for the money, you can't be this iMac. Broadly put, it is about double the power of my dual 2GHz G5 at work and I won't even comment on how bad it makes my old G4 look by comparison. I just upgraded and currently have both running on my desktop. My old 19" CRT pales when compared to the gorgeous 24" panoramic LCD of the iMac.

I am a dedicated Mac user so admit my bias. I can use Windows PCs, but don't enjoy it. I have owned or used (in chronological order) a PowerCenter 150 (clone), Umax S900 (clone), Power Mac 9600, Blue & White G3, Digital Audio G4, Mirrored Drive Door G4, Dual 2GHz G5, PowerPC Mac mini, and now the 2.4GHz Intel iMac. So far, I have to say it is my favorite out of all of them.

All is not rosy of course...I am having trouble migrating applications from my G4 to my new iMac, but I expect to iron things out eventually. Aside from that, I am really enjoyed the iMac experience. I consider myself a "power user" and while this is not the ultimate machine in that regard, it looks like it will more than meet my needs for the foreseeable future.

Yes, some of these iMacs have screen quality issues. But I think that is a minority as I have noticed no such issues with my beautiful display. No gradient problems as others have reported ... not even a dead pixel int hat vast sea of pixels! Watching HD content on it is really an eye-opening experience.

I will report back more as I continue to use it. I consider this review a work in progress. At this point however, I cannot help but recommend the 24" iMac to anyone but the most hard-core gamers or video editing professionals.
