The erstwhile Chilean leader Augusto Pinochet lived between 1915 and 2006. He was one of the most brutal dictators of the 20th century. Many opponents and political activists disappeared during his reign in the 1970s and the 1980s. He is regarded by many as the worst leader in the history of South America.
