I had been seeing some of the videos of an fairly beautiful woman with a lot of tatoos and the catchy voice so I decided to take a chance on this CD. I basically bought it blindly and have no regrets. Amy has an amazing voice and much better song array than Nora Jones who she seems to sound like. The essential R&B problem today is that this charming trope  is trying to make its way in a charm-free world. Jazz singing  isn't much better off: it's witty and demanding in an age  that tends to witlessness and shun the demands of paying attention.    So both of these styles can't go back. Clone Ella Fitz or Diana or  even Etta James, put them on the market today and. . . well, we may  not be good enough an audience for them. …

Never knew who she was till I watch her "You know I'm No Good" video at VH-1. Amy Winehouse's style is just so raw. The lyrics are simple but mean so much. A lot people put themselves into her place and vent with her lyrics which explains why certain people take into her. I like the fact that she sings of the dark side of love which is ever so common in today's world.     The title track deftly steals its introduction from Jimmy Mack before spiraling off into a much darker place …
