Bangla Bangers, (later followed by Chop Shop: London Garage), is a reality program on Discovery Channel about an eccentric Bangladeshi  car designer (Leepu) and a straight talking Cockney mechanic by the name of Bernie Fineman. In every episode they try to make a supercar  out of a car they buy at a wrecking yard.

Leepu, whose real name is Nizamuddin Awlia, converts rusting old cars into Ferrari and Lamborghini styled cars and limousines in his small workshop in Dhaka, Bangladesh. What makes these episodes notable is that the cars are built in a small garage using only basic tools and the bodywork is hand cut and shaped using sheet metal. With the help of the mechanic (Bernie Fineman) the improvements are sometimes remarkable.

The 'Gangsta Car' created by the Chop Shop team for Martin Kemp was demolished for charity at a popular VW show recently. The general consensus is that the car was a "monstrosity" and worthless. "We assert that we are ‘striking a blow’ on behalf of everyone who modifies vehicles taking proper account of engineering principles and limitations, aesthetic qualities, and general good taste... We wish to refute in advance any suggestion that terminating the ‘Gangster Car’ is wanton, pointless, or loutish. This is a fun, ‘tongue in cheek’ exercise, which while we are convinced be well received by the overwhelming number of car enthusiasts, who have consistently heaped disdain on the vehicle at every opportunity. We plan to remove all viable reusable parts prior to its being crushed by Podzilla."

Bangla Bangers is one of those shows that takes you back to the original days of reality. It's gritty and real and takes you to one of the places you'd never expect to see a "Pimp My Ride" type show: Bangladesh. Here they drive cars that would be considered classic three times over in the US. The concept of the show takes Leepu, a Bangladeshi car designer who takes junkers and turns them into cars you'd actually want to buy. It then throws in a hot tempered mechanic from England …
