I'm very strict when it comes down to taking care of my face. I'm the type of person who has thrown away shaving cream, after shave, and skin care products after no more than three uses if I saw the results weren't satisfying. Now, with that said, I can say that I've never finished a shaving gel in my life, since that type of cream is a nightmare for my skin when shaving. Therefore, I prefer foams and my number one foam of choice is
Gillette Foamy. However, if for some reason I'm not able to buy a can, then
Barbasol is my second choice.
Barbasol Pacific Rush is a foamy, and rich shaving cream that assist in those very close shaves. And when used in combination with the
Mach 3 Turbo Blades, it has given me some very close shaves with little to no irritation. I have just finished shaving 2 minutes ago, after letting my face go for four days, and my skin feels as smooth as a new born baby's. And on top of that; I feel no nicks, there was no blood, and my face just feels brand new. Also worth mentioning, is that I do not have straight hair either, so I can't just do rush shaves and I have to take my sweet time. But then again, it's foolish for anyone to rush when it comes down to their face.
The cream is very easy to apply, and you really don't need much to get a good shave, especially when used with very warm water. Personally, the water I use is very close to being straight hot, and I massage my face really well with a wash cloth. I can't put my finger on which soap, but if I had to guess, I would say it reminds me of Ivory. The smell is very refreshing and my face feels very clean.
The only down side I can think of, and this will more than likely differ from person to person.
Barbasol doesn't feel as rich to me when compared to
Gillette. I notice a slight difference between the two, and I just don't get a clean shave all the time, unless I go many days without shaving, three to five or so. While with
Gillette, I get this clean shave feel even if I shave everyday. Perhaps, it just had something to do with my skin that morning. I don't know.
The can comes with easy to follow directions and tips for new shavers. And I can vouch for those tips as being helpful. But as a rule of thumb, no matter how well something works for someone else. If you hit your third try with a product, and the results aren't what you want. Trust your instincts and try looking for something else. That's always worked for me.
Pros:
-Assists in a very close shave
-Little to no irritation (for me)
-Easy to apply
Cons:
-Not as rich as Gillette
