Shopping local is great, too bad the proprietor of the shop could learn a thing or two about service

Barry's for Pets is the only pet store in my 'hood. since I have two six-month-old puppies i was going there about once a week to pick up everything from pee pads to chew toys. that is, until "the incident."
my husband and i took our puppies there one day so we could get them harnesses instead of collars. at this point they were about 2.5 months old. barry wanted to try and put the harnesses on them himself to make sure they got the "proper" fit. our puppies were shy and had never been manhandled so we weren't thrilled but barry proceeded with the fitting, any way. our boy puppy started fidgeting and was clearly uncomfortable to the point where we asked barry to stop, but he wouldn't and we finally picked up our boy puppy.
i was already holding our girl puppy, and barry decided to try the harness on her. when i asked him not to, he kept saying he "just needed to get it over her head," etc., etc. she was clearly not happy about it, and i explained that she wasn't used to other people putting things on her, and i pulled her away but he WOULD NOT STOP doing it!
my husband had to physically step in and literally go toe-to-toe w/barry to get him to back off. i ran the puppies out of the store, to safety, and my husband and barry had words. i was afraid punches were going to be thrown! and if it had escalated one more level, i would've called the police. this is UNACCEPTABLE from a store owner! from someone who claims to love dogs! i don't care if you think what you're doing is ok, you a). wait for permission from the dogs' owners and b). stop when they tell you to, for god's sakes!
needless to say, in spite of IMMENSE inconvenience it causes us, we have never darkened the door of this store again. inexcusable!
