Mad Penguin wrote a great review of the Dark Knight year 1 and he told me that it was the basis for the Batman Begins storyline. I have the book on order from the library. That storyline was by far the best for me.

Yes, "Year One" does feature a number of elements that were featured in "Batman Begins", but there are a number of stories and graphic novels that were used as inspiration. You should also check out "The Man Who Falls", "The Long Halloween", and "Knightfall". These were the basis for all three of the new Batman films including next year's "The Dark Knight Rises" which will cap off the new Batman film trilogy.
