Brutally Gory Reboot of the Batman Title

As with the film The Dark Knight, this comic reboot of the Detective Comics series presents a scary pscyhopathic villian in a graphically bloody tale (whatever happened to the Comics Code seal?). I was expecting yet another orgin retelling of Batman but instead we begin with Batman on the tail of the Joker for 114 murders. The opening sequence begins with the Joker murdering in grisly fashion a would be attacker. Batman just happens to spring as the Joker is repeatedly stabbing an "already dead" foe. An innocent young girl provides the diversion that the Joker needs to escape.

Batman has some interactions with Jim Gordon and Alfred before capturing the white and green one during a knife stabbing fight . Later a straighjacketed Joker gets a visit from The Dollmaker who does some grisley facial surgery.

All in all not what I expected and definately not your grandfather's Batman.
