Recently a friend wanted to take me out for a birthday pedicure. Even though we have gone to some nice, affordable places nearby, in the Marina/Playa area of Los Angeles, she wanted to check out a new salon in Beverly Hills. It was her treat, so why not!
Bellacures is a nice shop on Robertson Blvd. Pretty simple decor -- kinda warehousey with big comfy chairs around the room -- but cute and trendy. It was also clean, which is important, and I noticed that each client gets their own brand new set of nail tools. It was the middle of the day so it was not too crowded (and we got metered street parking).
A standard pedicure was $25, but we both opted for fancier pedicures; I got the intense moisture for $30, my friend got the "minty clean" for $32. But as the pedicurists were working on our feet, mine insisted on bumping me up to the organic scrub pedicure... conveniently, $10 more. I told her no thanks but she was pretty vehement. (For the record, my feet are not gross! I swear!) I didn't want to continue arguing with her quiet, broken English, so I relented.
After about 30 min our feet were warm, clean and smooth. I got a french pedi and my friend got regular polish, and both looked pretty good. As I've had more time to look at my toes, I've seen that there is some wonky filing and uneven color. Nothing major but for $40 plus tip, those puppies should shine! (My normal salon charges around $20.)
The staff was nice and the shop was clean, and everything was satisfactory. But like most things in the Beverly Hills area, it's probably not worth the extra money. Unless a friend is paying, then go all out!

Ick, I hate it when people try to upsell me on stuff that I don't want! Speaking of mani and pedi's, have you ever heard of Minx nail before? @Aisha wrote about getting them at the Chi Nail Bar and Organic Spa in Beverly Hills and they seem pretty rad!
