I don't own very much makeup. My makeup bag consists of three things: eye shadow, eyeliner, and pressed powder. Lip balm would be a fourth if you want to count that.
I've never been one to be tempted by the goods on display while I'm waiting in line in stores, and aside from the occasional pack of gum or mints, don't really buy anything from there.
I'm not an impulsive shopper.
So it's saying something when I felt compelled to seek out a sample of Benefit's They're Real! Mascara after I had spotted it in one of the bins while waiting in line at Sephora. Not only that, but when I sampled it, I grabbed a tube and immediately made a beeline back to the line and plunked down $22 for it.
Why? Because it was the best friggin' mascara I've ever used.
Here are the results that they claimed to have received from consumer panel surveys:
94% saw dramatic length and volume
90% saw base-to-tip curl
94% saw visible lift
100% saw long-wearing results
My reactions to numbers like these in ads are typically, "meh, whatever", because I feel like most marketers just throw out randomly high numbers, but after trying out their mascara firsthand, I can see why these numbers are so high.
The box came with short, but descriptive directions on how to apply. Hold the wand horizontally and wiggle it side to side from base to tip to plump them up, then hold it vertically and apply from base to tip to separate and curl. I've never applied mascara in such a way before, but it works. It delivers great results and my lashes have never looked so fabulous. Its been a while since I've gotten this excited about a beauty product.
Based on my experience, this photo below is no exaggeration:
Needless to say, love this stuff.
