Iron Maiden has had a truly amazing career for a heavy metal band. Despite some line-up changes through the years, including lead singers, the core of the group has remained stable. Bruce Dickenson coming back to the band as lead singer recently has strengthened the band simply because he has a voice and ability to really carry a heavy metal band. It's been years since Iron Maiden has sounded so vibrant and creative. Brave New World is a fine achievement of quintessential heavy metal songwriting; a return to form for one of metal's preeminent bands. Maiden shows considerable growth here, but the energy captured on this record is nearly concordant with their zenith of intensity (I refer to albums like Piece of Mind and Powerslave). While I don't pretend to be the biggest Iron Maiden fan in the world, they are still one of my favorite bands. As such, I was in no way disappointed by Brave New World. I'm genuinely glad that Bruce has returned to the band, as his voice encapsulates the ineffable Maiden sound. Each song is consistently impressive, although it took me a few rounds to be completely hooked. Unlike previous albums, these songs seem to spend longer building themselves up instead of reaching out and grabbing you immediately, …
