Cool Products for You and Your Dog

I will be the first to admit to a complete bias, since this review is about the website I own and manage.  But I want you all to know how cool it is!  I've rated my site as a 4 because I really believe the items carried are healthy, safe, durable and innovative.  It's not a 5 simply because the selection isn't as wide yet as it will be one day.

If you go into a pet supply store these days, you'll find lots of interesting and inexpensive items - anything from toys to leashes, beds, and treats.  Fun stuff, but how do you know if it's any good?  There is a very good chance that inexpensive toys are made from toxic materials and dyes, and who knows what kind of stuffing is in those $20 beds?

If you have a dog, you've probably experienced any or all of the following:
  • That nifty new $25 toy lasts under 5 minutes
  • The new bag of treats gives your dog diarrhea
  • Something (or many somethings) got chewed into tiny little pieces in your home or car because your dog was bored and decided to eat something that isn't actually food.
  • Your dog hates the new sweater or it wore out after just a couple of wearings.
  • Your dog's supplies (bed, leash, food, etc) take up more room when you're going on a trip that your stuff does
  • When you're driving, your dog gets too excited and may try to jump into the front seat or out of a window at highway speeds.  Not good!
  • If you're a hiker or camper, it can be hard to find a well-made backpack that fits your dog properly and won't strain their back.
and the list goes on

Dealing with these kinds of issues is common to all of us who treat our dogs as the special and unique family members they are.  It's important that we give our dogs products we know are durable, safe, and practical.

My own frustration at packing up the car for camping trips with my two dogs inspired me to start looking for quality supplies that would last more than one trip, that were easy to pack and carry and, where possible, served more than one purpose.  That led to finding durable toys that are safe for my dogs teeth and weren't filled with toxic materials.  And so it grew.

I don't know of any other site at the moment that carries the variety of quality items that the CampingDogSupplies.com site carries.  This includes things like:
  • Eco-friendly bedding that is nontoxic, made from recycled materials, and can be recycled again when you're done with it years later
  • Eco-friendly dog toys that are incredibly durable, practical, and made from recycled materials
  • Backpacks that are solid, safe for your dog's back, and available in styles to fit virtually any dog's body shape and carrying capacity
  • Leashes that can be used in 5 different ways
  • Car containment systems to keep your dog safe when traveling -- there's even one that doubles as a leash and harness for walking
  • Emergency kits to treat everything from cuts and scrapes to more serious events and that fit in your car's glove box
  • Life vests, sweaters, recyclable dog boots and other apparel
Personally, I got very tired of spending tons of money on dog toys or dog supplies that didn't last or didn't work as advertised. To me, it's important that you get real value from the products you buy.  Of course, no toy is going to last to the next century, and some will only last a few minutes depending on your dog's chewing habits - but the price should be equal to the value, right?

Very interesting - thanks for sharing and welcome to Lunch! Our St Bernard loved to camp (she passed a few years ago), and we now have a Mastiff puppy who will be introduced to hiking and camping this spring. I'll check out the site for sure. Looking forward to seeing more of your reviews on other topics!
