A Psychedelic Circus Performance in Los Angeles

Born at Burning Man in 2005 and named one of "L.A.'s 10 Weirdest Events of 2008" by the Los Angeles Times, Cirque Berzerk has tickled the collective innards of L.A. and beyond with a psychotically-tinged sultry show filled with sinewy, breathtaking acrobatics, … see full wiki

A unique, different, entertaining and weird night out in downtown Los Angeles.

Went to see Cirque Berzerk last night. www.cirqueberzerk.com. And really had no idea what to expect. This is what I got.
Live music. Really good live music. The house band was a cross between Radiohead and Moby but with a more driving beat. With a lot of violin incorporated into the songs that sounded both eerie and cool.

Insane Dancing. I don't know much about dancing but I'll do my best to describe. Imagine the Russian Ballet combined with Michael Jackson's Thriller video featuring Sean Johnson (Summer Olympics, look it up).

Weird, Crazy Circus Sh#!. This is the part of the show that not only takes your breath away, it sort of freaks you out. There's fire, flying (lots of flying) and a trampoline act that was truly one of the coolest, choreographed stage acts I've ever seen.

Combine all these things together at once, and that's Cirque Berzerk.

But really, it's more than just the show. There's a second tent for drinking and partying before and after the actual show. In this tent you get live music, a full bar, old-school pin-ball games (????), food and clothing for sale and some pretty amazing people watching.

All in all a very good evening. It's around through July 5th and I really think people should go.

Here's some videos that some friends of mine at The Famous Group produced for the event.

I think tickets are around $45. Parking is $10. Well worth it. All seats are pretty much good. Section 2,3,4 were just a bit better but really there's not a bad seat in the house (tent).

Hey Graham! This sounds like a BLAST- thanks so much for sharing. It would be really cool if you could embed the videos into your review for lazy people such as myself! Here are some pointers for embedding videos into your review. If you need any help, let me know and I'm definitely going to have to check this out.

hey Graham. great heads up. it's funny being in LA, we never any clue when unique events are coming to town. I was just talking with someone about how in the midwest, everyone knows every single concert that is coming to town, but here we just don't pick up on that kind stuff. how much was it? all general admission or any tips on getting good seats? thanks man.
