I don't know what most people do, but I usually wash my brushes, combs, etc. at least once a week, and usually twice. I fill the sink basin with hot water and a dab of shampoo (which dissolves the oils that accumulate on hair implements), swish the brushes around after I defoliate them of hair, and let them soak until I can rinse them off.
Hmmm...not the kind of thing you want to do with a brush with a cork handle! Apparently the handle on this brush is glued on to the brush, cause a 20 minute soak made the handle pop right off!
I'm exchanging it for a new one, but let me review the brush, pre-soak: it's very nice. The pins are well placed and do a great job of brushing. My hair is thick and wavy, and it's usually a chore trying to drag a brush through it. Not with this brush. Works very well, which is surprising cause usually the heft of my hair breaks brushes and other devices.
I can't say that titanium/tourmaline combo did much for making my hair shiny. I was just more impressed that the brush went through my hair without a lot of effort and without ripping it out!
I'd highly recommend this (just beware of the brush baths!)
