This Cuisinart Toaster Will Take You Up To The Next Level.

Sooner or later you will want to replace your toaster whether it is from old age or from the one that you have is not what you thought it would be. When found this one at Sam's Club for only $30.00, and that is less than ½ the price for the same toaster at Lowe's Home Improvement store. We have only had for a short, but we already know that this will beat out the old one that this one replaced.

If you wanted that stainless steel look this is the toaster that you will want. This toaster has a metal look to it, the outside has a brushed stainless steel casing which covers the inner housing to help this from getting to hot to handle.
The outside dimensions are from side to side it is 7", from top to bottom it is 7", and from front to back it is 9 ½". The openings for the bread to sit in are 1 ½" wide x 5 3/8" deep. Even though this is made of stainless steel it only weighs 3 pounds and 18 ounces. This toaster has three indicator lights and a button which will let you know if you have it on the bagel (which will add extra time for those large bagels),a defrost button (which will frozen items), or a reheat button (which will let you re-heat without browning any more) settings. This also has a dial with a light up browning numbers starting at one and going all the way up to nine.

There is plenty of electrical for this to plug in any on your countertop, this is a 30" cord and if there is too much cord, then you can wrap the excess underneath around the cord keeper tabs. This toaster also has a removable crumb tray tucked neatly underneath.

Once you have inserted your bread inside of the slot, you can set the browning control knob by turning it to the right, a number stays lit at all times so that you can see which setting that you are at. If you have it set from 1 to 3 this will lightly brown you bread for 1 minute and 20 seconds, if it is set on 4 to 6 this will make it a medium brown in color and takes about 2 minutes, if you go from 7 to 9 then this will take you to the darkest brown and it will take 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

When you use this like we do and have kids that like frozen pop tarts then you can use one of the specialty settings which start at the top with the bagel setting and lasts about 3min and 35 sec. If you are going to defrost something then you should use the defrost setting and it will take you about 3min and 15 seconds. But, there have been times that we just wanted to heat up a quick snack such, as the ever popular pop tart, it will take only 30 seconds to do this.

You can put only one slice of bread inside to be browned, all you have to do is set the toaster to the lowest setting on the dial, and put it in either side of the toaster and it will do it very fast and without burning the bread. This is very simple to use and you do not have to worry about the outside of the toaster getting too hot, because of the outer shell being separate this will prevent it from getting too hot. With the crumb tray being able to slide out, you will no longer have to lift the toaster up and turn it upside down to get the crumbs out. This tray will hold all of the debris and allow you to dump it in the garbage without getting them all over the place. This toaster also has a cancel button to stop the toaster from browning your toast any further.

There have been a few times that we have put a muffin in and it was too small to get out, but with the extra little lift tray that they have installed in the toaster, that is no longer any problem. All you have to do, is when your bread is done browning, after the toast pops up, lift up on the control lever a little and the carriage will come up just enough for you to grab the toast or muffin.

If you haven't looked at any new toasters, then I would highly giving this a look see. You will be very satisfied with what you get from this toaster. There is a 3 year limited warranty on this toaster but you have to pay for the shipping and handling. They do make these cheap enough so that if you do not have any problems with for 3 years you could just toss this one and they will probably come with a much more efficient model. Five stars for this model until they can make one that will just swallow a whole loaf of bread.

Amount Paid (US$): 30.00

There are two problems with the RBT-260SA. First, the bread opening depth of 5 3/8" is too short for most multi grain breads. Sara Lee muti grain (and most other brands ) are 5 3/8" to 5 3/4" wide so they stick in this toaster. Your option is to cut off one side of the bread to make it fit the toaster....absurd. Also the 'bagel' setting only increases the toasting time, just like adjusting the browning control knob. It does not toast only one side of the bagel, the cut side, as do most other toasters with a bagel setting. I had high hopes because it was a Cuisinart, but it's going back to Sam's Club tomorrow. P.S. the Cuisinart engineer who approved this design should be 'toasted'.
