A style of sheepskin boot
Chefs wear them, nurses wear them, even artists and waiters wear them. Yes, I'm talking about the ugly clog, the round, friendly-looking shoes that make your feet look like enormous loaves of bread.
This is the classic case of giving up looks for the sake of orthopedic support. Danskos clogs are the quintessential comfort shoe, which is why so many people who work in professions that require them to stand all day (as listed above) rely on clogs. More so than sneakers, clogs really help reinforce the arch of your foot and your heel — it's all in its sturdy wooden sole.
I love my Danskos religiously (I prefer the Dansko Professional Cabrio model). Like everyone else, I've always hated the way clogs look, but when I tried on my first pair of blackish red Danskos a few years back, I loved the extra height they gave me; their heaviness made my walking feel more grounded and improved my posture. Paired with a black pair of skinny jeans, and they actually kind of look like boots.
If it were between me in my Dansko clogs and Jared Leto in his silver Crocs (as part of his "30 Seconds from Mars" getup), I'm pretty sure I'd look a helluva lot cooler.
