The Deftones are one of those bands that always seems to gain momentum rather than lose it as the years go by and changes in the industry are ever frequent. They are a band with a unique sound, that provides a little more depth to the nu-metal genre, and their lyrics actually make the listener give some thought to the music which is something we truly don't see very much of these days. The band is still touring their latest album release "Diamond Eyes" and played an amazing selection of tracks from this album including "Rocket Skates", "You've Seen The Butcher", and "Prince".

Their set also consisted of a fantastic mix of their entire catalog with songs like "Digital Bath", "Change", and "Knife Party" all from their most well-known album "White Pony" and of course "My Own Summer (Shove It) " from the early, early days. Vocalist Chino Moreno took control of the stage and demanded the attention of the room, all eyes of the sold-out crowd were glued to the stage. Deftones are a band that has presence and are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

It must also be noted that the evening started out with solid performances from the shows two opening bands: The Dillinger Escape Plan and Funeral Party. The lighting and stage show from Dillinger Escape Plan was mind-blowing and they definitely brought a hardcore sound to the stage with tons of screaming vocals and heavy, feedback ridden guitar riffs. Funeral Party may not have been the best fit for this tour, however they appeared to be giving it their very best effort. Singer Chad Elliot interacted with the crowd to the best of his ability and the musicianship of the band overall was solid, I just feel that perhaps they would have had a better response with a less hardcore crowd. I definitely expect to hear a lot more about this band in the future.
