This Model Exceeded My Expectations (Based On Comparable Competitors' Products)

I’ve had a problem for about the past two years.  See, my wife and I are what we like to call “efficient misers,” which basically means we’re cheap but we’re smart about it.  One of our vehicles is a 2003 model and only recently the manufacturer stopped manufacturing replacement parts for certain aspects of the auto’s interior.  Granted, most would dismiss these as non-essential (items like door panel inserts and overhead visors), but – when or if they go bad – you’re still needing a replacement, especially if you want (as we do) to operate the vehicle safely.
So, my chief problem is that I’ve very few options available to me to replace the driver’s visor, which has worn out its small ‘feeler’ gauge and doesn’t want to stay either up or down when you need it most.  (You can either have it up OR down, but it’s difficult to move it back once you put it down.)  Replacement ones are available through ebay retailers if you want to spend your life’s fortune (since this is an item no longer in mass production, costs have skyrocketed); my last two trips to the pick’n’pull salvage yards proved fruitless.
When I was contacted to review the E-SKY UNIVERSAL CAR ANTI-GLARE VISOR, I jumped at the chance, and I’m glad I did.
This visor gives me the flexibility of keeping the car’s interior one in the up position (where it likes to stay anyway) while using E-Sky’s product to still provide me with some shade from the glare.  (There are two visors available on it, one for day-time use and one for night; I’ve yet to have to use the night as I’m only out-and-about during the workday.)  E-Sky’s plate folds down into practically the perfect position for my line-of-sight, and the hinge mechanism thus far has proved to be as reliable as I would want/need it to be for my convenient use.  Now were I one-foot shorter than I am at 5’6”, then I can see how the tint plate may not be as perfectly positioned; unfortunately, that’s not an issue I think E-Sky could address given the space limitations of a car’s interior.
However, if I were to make a small suggestion?  Were I the designer, I’d probably have asked for these anti-glare plates to be perhaps 2-4 inches wider so as to better deflect light from the right and left sides; but that might not made for a truly “universal” application in smaller cars.
How effective does it reduce the glare?  Personally, I think it works terrific.  (Again, I haven’t tried the night vision plate – which is a yellow-orange tint.)  For my tastes, it works about as effectively as a fairly strong pair of sunglasses would do, and that’s more than enough to accomplish the basic use of such an invention.  In fact, anything darker would probably negatively impact the driver’s vision.
Since I’ve had this issue that I mentioned above, I’ve actually tried several competitors’ products I’ve purchased from department stores; the chief complaint I’ve had with all of those is that, after only about one month’s use, their visors no longer wanted to stay in position once I placed them there.  What tends to happen over time is that the plastic mechanism gradually wears down from use.  While I’ve yet to encounter that mishap with E-Sky’s product, I can say that their hinge device does appear to be thicker than competitors; I tend to think it’ll hope up better over the long haul.  I’ve also tried to use those self-stick films I’ve seen advertised, but those never seem to adhere for very long, or they tend to bubble from the harsh heat I endure here in the Arizona summer months.
Lastly, I’ve read that other reviewers have found E-Sky’s directions either substandard or entirely illegible.  I don’t know if I’ve received a newer version of the manual or not (it’s only a small folded brochure to begin with), but I can strongly attest that I had no difficulty whatsoever in finding what I needed, when I needed when I went looking for it.  I understand how frustrating and confusing their experience may have been; I can only say that I – having used similar products in the recent past – didn’t share in that troublesomeness.
Maybe you may find my review a bit biased precisely because I have had some experience with similar products, and perhaps you think I’ve gone too easy on E-Sky.  Such is life, and I respect your opinion.  But as I stack E-Sky’s product up against the competition, I can assure you that this model worked beyond what I had expected because of my attempts with knock-offs.  This is a quality product, and I’m hoping it’ll last me until history forces me to upgrade my automobile.
In the interests of fairness, I’m pleased to disclose that one of the Amazon retailers contacted me with the opportunity to provide an honest assessment of the E-SKY UNIVERSAL CAR ANTI-GLARE VISOR; and their contribution to me of the said product in no way, shape, or form influenced my opinion of it.
