Steely Dan is just one class act. You can truly count on them to put out consistent material. Everything Must Go is certainly no exception even though its a little short in length by today's standards.

Although many of the songs have a jazz flavored arrangment, there is some kick/oomph to many of the songs. Some good performances by all the instrumentalists, particularly the horn players. Blues Beach and God Whackers both bop along quite nicely. Other tunes such as The Last Mall and Everything Must Go have memorable melodies. Love the horn arrangment on the later piece. Walter Becker sounds good in his Steely Dan lead vocal debut on Slang Of Ages.

Like I said before, you cannot go wrong with any Steely Dan recordings. Pretzel Logic still stands as their best release with Royal Scam, Can't Buy A Thrill, and Katy Lied battling it out for a close second. However, Everything Must Go can certainly stand on its own bopping jazz merits. Lets hope Steely Dan can continue to put out good music in a reasonable span of time.
