It's a free country but I have absolutely no use for any of this stuff.

Recently I made up a list here on Lunch that I dubbed “These are a few of my least favorite things”. For the most part this was kind of a fun list but one of the items that I put near the top of my list was “explicit lyrics”. I have precious little tolerance for most of this stuff and I have always been baffled by those who listen to this garbage and find it entertaining. If used in a proper context I'm all for it.

Explicit lyrics in music is fine with me if it fits in with the song. But if it's there just to either express faux rage or trying to hide the fact that they can't write meaningful lyrics then I really don't care for it. It's fine with me if it's used properly in a song but if the performer is saying it just to say it then I don't care for it. I find that there's a double standard in music today.
