Although Fair Game ends with a rousing call to arms in defense of democracy, and justice is somewhat served, you won't walk out of the theater with a smile on your face. “Fair Game” is essentially three movies crammed into one, and two of them are pretty good. The first movie is a smart, sharp spy thriller starring Naomi Watts. As Valerie Plame, she is a Central Intelligence Agency spy in the leadup to the Iraq War. “Fair Game” is a film that I can respect as it seemed to avoid the feelings of ‘sensationalism’ amid its screenplay. It seemed to stay within the realms of its premise and yet it never reached the limits of such a premise. I feel that the film was a little too safe and didn’t go deeper into the story of this woman who had served her country faithfully and was finally revealed as a CIA operative just because of her husband’s own revelations. … more
