TheDaredevilsoundtrackprovided a nice boost for this previously unknown quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas. Evanescence’s songs "My Immortal" and the imposing "Bring Me to Life" are clear standouts in the film, mainly because they work so well with the dramatic, eerie undertones of the storyline. They reappear here on the band’s debut, alongside a selection of similarly brooding tracks that evoke pensive artists likeTori Amosand theCranberries. Vocalist Amy Lee has the kind of voice that can cause weeks of insomnia, but on songs like "Tourniquet" and "Haunted" she belies the music’s sinister mood with evenhanded spirituality, thoughtfully letting some light shine through the tempest.--Aidin Vaziri

If you need to leave the world you live in...

Pros: I like it. Cons: I could do without "Hello" but that's just me. The Bottom Line: I want to be in a field of paper flowers and candy clouds of lullaby. I don’t know the real origins of Evanescence. Some people say they’re sort of Christian rock-type stuff. I wouldn’t know. What I do know is that I like their music. Bring Me To Life won't make you feel dead inside...

WoW I am not a fan of this genre, so this was actually the first album that I bought and I truly loved it. This CD doesn't have many tracks, but big things come in small pacakges. I'd rather get 10-tracks that sound good then a 20-track CD with not much on it.

Great First Try For Evanescence!

Some people think that this album is overrated. NOT ME, although they have been a tad overplayed on the radio. I am not some hard core fan of Evanescence nor Miss Amy (although they have received MUCH PUBLICITY). I enjoyed the whole album, especially "My Immortal" & "Tourniquet". Listen up, yo!

heavier music fronted by a female singer rarely reaches mainstream attention these days (if the atrocity known as Kittie comes to mind, they don't count because they awful and those vocals aren't really "female" IMO). Evanescene has been completely overhyped for their alleged originality, however.
