It just wasn't my cup of tea

When it comes to music, I do enjoy a wide variety of styles and genres... especially Electronica. I thought I would like this album because I like MGMT, and many have compared this band to them. I also enjoy many other indie music bands. Anyways, I listened to this album many times all the way through... to give it a chance, but I just never enjoyed it. Eclectic sound collage, novel but not especially memorable

This album is a stylistic mash-up - guitar-based alt rock mixed with electro-club sounds and various synthetic instrumental tones and effects. Much of the music is instrumental, and the songs are generally moody, so it's not a "pop" album and it's not a standard "club" music album either. The album has some interesting tracks and arrangements, yet it wasn't particularly memorable for me. Worth a listen, especially if you like music that doesn't conform to a particular genre. Fun & Energetic!

If 80s New Wave had been more heavily influence by punk and bands like Morris Day's The Time, then it may have sounds something like this. Disparate elements don't always merge gently, but it still works somehow. The opener has the grandiose chords of Queen, Broken follows with a gritty Flock of Seagulls sounds, Spaces And The Woods is like Gary Newman fronting for The Cars, The Bears Are Coming is like some demented Oingo Boingo out take...you get the idea.
