Forrest Smithson is not only a masterful synthesist, but also is a social worker who runs his own therapy center that assists people with developmental difficulties including those with mental, physical and personality disorders, and teaches them to feel good about themselves and to better fit into their community. So Smithson wants his music to help the listener follow their dream of a better life and a more positive world.
His new CD is called DREAMING TIME which falls into the new age, space and modern-ambient genres. This mostly-instrumental recording was created with synthesizers but utilizes the sounds of keyboards, strings, percussion, bass, horns, chimes and a variety of other instrumentation.
As with all ambient music, these long tunes unfold slowly, but leave the listener feeling good. The first tune has the most traditional ambient sound. Each of the next three instrumental tunes has more going on than the previous one, so each holds your interest more and more as the CD progresses. Hopefully Smithson plays this music in his waiting room because this is the type of music to relax the listener and also to serve as an excellent backdrop for any work area where the people want to avoid stress.
