I think when you take everything into account (prices, food, service, atmosphere, and hygene), Goodfellas Bar and Grill in Cedar Lake, Indiana is one of the best restaurants to eat out at in the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland region.
The food is marvelous. I always dine on the "Forgetaboutit" ribeye steak sandwich, which I've always gotten the way I like it (medium rare, and it's loaded with flavor). I've sampled other dishes from the menu (such as ribs, jalapeno poppers, fries, chicken wings, pizza), and like the steak sandwich, they're really good.
The prices are really good, too. The most expensive items on the menu are signature pizzas and BBQ ribs ($23 for the largest pizza and $15.95 for a full slab of ribs), while everything else hovers around the $5-10 range (most items hover around $5-8). It also helps that everyday, there's a special on something different each day of the week. There's specials on different kinds of liquor as well each day.
Even when the place was busy, we got prompt, friendly service. Everyone who works there has a friendly tone.
The atmosphere is fun. As the name would imply, the restaurant is themed around early 20th century gangsters. There's giant pictures of famous gangsters like Al Capone and Bugs Moran on the walls with biographies, and there's miscellaneous items and decor that fit with this aesthetic. The waitresses wear clothing fitting for a 1920's/1930's gangster setting (complete with fedora hats). Even on the outside, there's a manequin of Al Capone on a chair and a chalked body outline.
The hygene is high up as well, since I never sat at a filthy table or saw anything in the restaurant that was dirty.
If you live in the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland area, you should take your friends and/or family out to Goodfellas because you'll get great food at reasonable prices with fun, friendly atmosphere and a clean place to eat.
This comes to show that Goodfellas is not just the name of a great movie, but also a great restaurant.
