A combination of Sudoku, reading, beer, conversations and people watching, interminable browsing in the airport bookshops, lots of strolling from one departure gate to another and alternately snoozing with my travel companion ... PLUS mentally reminding myself to stay serene and calm about events which are totaly beyond my control!

Great ideas, I completely agree! Oh, and WiFi is helpful, too :) Airports are the best people watching spots and it's always entertaining or intriguing!

The trouble with WiFi is that I've found very few airports have free hot spots. The networks are available but they're generally pay as you go.

That's true, you either have to hole up at an airport Starbucks or pay $6-$12.
