Innocent Blood is an exciting book of religious fiction. The plot centers around three main characters who are part of a religious prophecy to stop Armageddon. One person is an archeologist. She is known for her intelligence. Another person is a warrior of man. He is a soldier known for his bravery. The third person in the trio is a priest. He is known for his religious strength and knowledge. I haven't read the previous books in the series. I did not know how these characters were connected at first. The relationship between the characters is believable. They compliment each other well with their unique qualities.
They are trying to prevent the unleashing of Armageddon at the hands of Judas Iscariot in this novel. Judas Iscariot is a disciple of Jesus Christ. He is known for his betrayal of Jesus. It is interesting to see how a Biblical character is woven into a novel of religious fiction.
They are also hunted by immortal beings called Strigoi. These are people who love to draw human blood with their fangs. The character of Elizabeta is another interesting character. She is a five hundred year old strigoi trying to adjust to life in the 21st century after centuries of imprisonment.
Innocent Blood is set in beautiful locales that I would love to visit. I would love to see the beautiful St. Peter's basilica in Rome. I would love to see the winter paradise of Stockholm. I would even like to see the oasis in the desert of Egypt. Innocent Blood is also a thought provoking book. It makes me think of all things I would do if I became immortal. It would be neat to be immortal because I would get to see all the new innovations being developed. A character in this book has the chance to undo his greatest sin. I would like to have the opportunity to undo one of my mistakes. I never thought a novel of religious fiction would make me think about things that I never thought about.
