According to the pamphlet, "over 3 million women and girls work as prostitutes on the street of India." Many of these women were kidnapped or tricked into sexual slavery. International Princess Project "establishes micro-enterprise sewing centers in partnership with indigenous Indian organizations who rescue and care for women escaping the sex trade".
"Punjammies are made by women formerly enslaved in prostitution seeking to rebuild their lives. Proceeds from sales of Punjammies provide fair -trade wages, savings accounts and holistic recovery care."
It's become a tradition for my mom to buy me new pajamas on every holiday and when I come to visit. They are my favorite clothes to wear, and she knows it and likes to keep me comfortable. This pair is by far my favorite. Every time I put them on I think of the women who have faced hardship and abuse, and the work they are doing to rebuild their lives.

The International Princess Project "began with 6 women working in one sewing center in 2005. There are now over 60 women working at two sewing centers in India. There are over 3 million women who need help too." I look forward to purchasing more Punjammies for myself and as gifts for friends and family. The more people who know about and wear Punjammies, the bigger impact we can make!
