This is a short enjoyable book. I am waiting for a longer sequel.

I like a lot of things about this book entitled Iris Brave. I like the central plot of a young girl named Iris Brave going on a journey of discovery. She is an eleven year old girl trying to learn the details of her father's death. She also learns about her late father's personality and life the process. Her father, Micah, dies in a car accident that also claims the life of a Senator's son. I like the concept of soul jumpers. A soul jumper is a person who can enter the body of another person. They do not take the soul of that person's body. They retain their own soul to carry out their purpose in life. Young Iris Brave meets a character in the book at the arch in St. Louis, Missouri. Ali B. does not explain why the arch is a tourist attraction. I would have appreciated it if she did. This is a place that I would love to visit. I hope Ali B. uses the setting of Missouri more in a future book.

I really like the way Ali B. ties the idea of soul jumpers to the plot. She introduces a new character with almost every chapter. Each character brings something new to the book. I like the character of Charlotte. She is a friend of Micah Brave with a love of poetry. She becomes a great friend to Iris by sharing her poetry. The problem is that the chapters are so short. The motivation behind some of these characters is missing. There is a female character with the soul of a grandma in her eight year old grand daughter's body. This character seems fascinating, but she is only explored in a few pages. I hope that Ali B. writes a sequel to this book. I wouldn't mind reading a longer sequel with 400 plus pages. I just think that Ali B. should spend more time with character development in book two.
