I bought these on sale in my most recent online shopping hoard. After this, I don't think you will be hearing from me for a long time! (I'm all tapped out).
Of course, these can only work as perfect everyday pants if you buy them in a neutral color. The color I bought is far from neutral and can only see the light every day about every 2 weeks. I bought them in the peanut-y "Glazed Pecan" color. A very vintage color. I love it. I have no idea what to wear them with; I'm not that adept with style... but I love them anyway.
As for the fit, matchstick pants from J. Crew are wonderful... as long as your butt is not too big. And even if you do have a little bit of a bump right there, the pants work fine, not just because a lot of Matchsticks are stretch, but because J. Crew Matchstick pants make room in the seat of the pants for "bump-y" girls. And, of course, their pants are always too long for short women (I'm 5"3), even the lengths labeled as "short", o I have to roll them up or have them hemmed.
