The Jardins de Luxembourg: People, Plants and Pleasure in Paris

The Jardins de Luxembourg on the Left Bank of the Seine in the heart of Paris are a grand place to people watch, and if you live in Paris, a good place to pass your afternoons. On my last trip here I had a long chat one afternoon with a woman about my age who was involved in media in some way, and who lived in a small apartment nearby.
The convenience and the liveliness of the neighborhood was what made the small place her choice, and even though she now could afford to think of a larger apartment elsewhere she didn’t want too. “Why would I want a garden, she asked rhetorically. “I’ve got the Luxembourg across the street.
