Killing Jesus is an excellent recitation of the life and times of Jesus Christ. The author develops the story beginning with Roman rule in the BC period, as well as the horrendous times of King Herod. The book progresses through the birth of Christ and the evolution of His dealings with the soon to be Apostles.
The author does a good job of detailing the contentious atmosphere with the Sanhedrin and their vote to condemn Jesus to death by a simple majority. In addition, there is a riveting rendition of the decision leading to the crucifixion of Christ by Pilate. The author goes on to explain events through 132AD including the famous rebellion against the Romans called the Bar Kochba.
Overall, the book documents some important but little known aspects of the life and times of Christ showing the BC and post death periods in Rome and Judea. There could be a discrepancy concerning the age of Jesus at death. This author believes that Christ died circa age 33 not age 36.
