The World's Best Dog Toy!

I cannot tell you how many times this toy has saved my furniture and my sanity. Kong toys are crowned the best dog toy in the world for a reason. They are durable, safe, come in varying sizes and have a convenient hole for treats and peanut butter surprises.

I’ve purchased the Extreme Kong in the past. It’s strong and made for power chewers (apparently it’s now the product of choice used for K-9 training by the police force). This is one of the few products that I can give to my dog and not have to constantly worry that it’s going to be in bits and pieces in 2 minutes (or worse, in her stomach).

The most amazing feature is the Kong hole which you can fill with peanut butter or treats (PB is best) and stick in the freezer. The PB freezes and it takes your dog three times as long to lick up all of it. This is so lovely, and usually buys me an extra 10 to 20 minutes to make phone calls, clean, do paper work, etc. As my dog has gotten older, this distraction isn’t such a necessity, but when she was a puppy is was crucial!! If you have a puppy or a dog under the age of one you must have this product! I promise, it will change your life (or at least make the day to day easier)!

The varying sizes are great options for puppies and adult dogs. The puppy and classic Kong are super bouncy and great for play time. The senior Kong is softer and easier on older dogs and their teeth. I would recommend checking out their whole line of products including their tennis toys, wubba, and zingers. The Kong website also provides size tips, Kong recipes and owner testimonials.

Get a Kong, your pet will love you for it!

I wish my dog liked Kongs but she hasn't given one a second glance since she outgrew her tiny puppy one and we lost the white and blue one attached to a yellow rope that she used to play fetch with in the lake. I'm not sure where it went though, plus we don't live near a lake anymore.

I actually don't think the Kong is the best dog toy and I always wondered what was so special about it, aside from the way you can fill it with peanut butter because what dog doesn't like peanut butter? My dog really liked the Buster Cube Dog Toy, which is a plastic cube that you fill with kibble. It was so loud on wood floors that we had to stop using it!!

I still have her puppy Kong though, along with the little green puppy collar and all her dog licenses from every place she's lived. :)

I've never heard of the Buster Cube, but it sounds like something that my dog would like. I think a great dog toy is anything that my dog will continue to enjoy for more than one day! I've had such problems finding toys that are durable for her. Anything fabric is ruined in 10mins and most plastic toys are ripped up and eaten in about 20!:) It's not only a waste of dinero, but terrible for her health.

What kind of dog do you have? Have you heard of Music for Dogs? You might be interested in checking it out.

well the Buster Cube is great, especially if your dog has separation anxiety. It will distract him for a while after you've gone. There is also a "Tricky Treat Ball" which is not as noisy as the Buster Cube and pretty much does the same thing, so maybe you could use that while you're at home?

My dog (a black lab) tears apart her stuffed toys too but for some reason she doesn't swallow the batting. She just leaves it all over the floor for me to pick up. :P But yeah the plastic kind don't last long for her and she gets bored of the better quality rubber ones (like Kongs) unless I fill them with peanut butter. The rope toys lasted longer for her but she learned years ago that those are the most boring ones.

Now that she's 10 she stil dissects toys, starting by chewing the noses and ears off but she doesn't seem to want to do that with these huge hedgehogs we got her. They have this funny grunting noise in addition to the squeaky noise which is really cute because when she has it in her mouth it sounds like she's grunting.

I'll have to check out that Music for Dogs thing too, thanks for the info. :)
