L.L. Bean

1 rating: 5.0
A privately-held mail-order and retail company based in Freeport, Maine, United States, specializing in clothing and outdoor recreation equipment.

The history of L.L. Bean, Inc., founded in 1912, really begins with the quintessential rags-to-riches story of the company's founder, Leon Leonwood Bean. Born in 1872 to Benjamin and Sarah Bean, L.L. was the fourth of six children. Orphaned at the age … see full wiki

Guaranteed.  You have our word.   Our products are guaranteed to give 100% satisfaction in every way.  Return anything purchased from us at any time if it proves otherwise.  We do not want you to have anything from L.L. Bean that is not completely satisfactory.

This is the way that they have always done business at L.L. Bean.  And it is one of the primary reasons why this venerable New England company continues to thrive nearly 100 years after its founding by Leon Leonwood Bean.  In the throwaway world in which we live there is something incrediby reassuring about a company like L.L. Bean.  You will find that just about anything you purchase from L.L. Bean is manufactured to the most exacting standards and really is made to last.  Be it a new pair of boots,  a pair of jeans or that kayac you have always dreamed of you can rest assured that you will be getting a product of superior quality for your hard earned money.  I can tesify to the fact that I have never ever been dissatisifed with a product from L.L. Bean.

Here in New England a trip to the original L.L. Bean store in Freeport, Maine is something akin to a religious experience. The original store opened in 1951 and has operated 24/7 year round pretty much ever since.  For the sportsman it is kind of like being a kid in a candy store.  Although I have been there numerous times myself I never seem to grow tired of it.  There are always lots of cool new items to check out on the sales floor.  However, most L.L. Bean customers across the country and around the world never get the chance to come to Maine.  Some are able to visit one of Bean's branch locations now found in about a  dozen states as well as in in Japan where L.L. Bean currently has 9 stores. I didn't know that!   But the backbone of  L.L. Bean's business is still the catalogue.  Here you will find shoes and boots, camping and fishing equipment, bicycles and watches, cookware and luggage.  And of course if you are looking for some of the smartest, most rugged casual apparel around the L.L. Bean catalogue is certainly the place to find it.  Whenever I am in the market for a new jacket or boots I always check to see what L.L. Bean has to offer.

So there you have it.   Yes, you will pay a little more for your purchase at L.L. Bean.  But the price is always fair and you can rest assured that you are getting top quality merchandise each and every time.  And just in case something does go wrong you have the best guarantee in retailing to back you up.  It sure does seem to me that L.L. Bean will be around for another hundred years or more.  They are a great company to do business with!    Very highly recommended!

I get mailed L.L. Bean catalogs all the time, but have never really taken a look at it since I get all my sporty type equipment and attire at REI.  I did not realize that they were a well-loved company that has been around for so long, and does their original store really operate 24/7?  That'd be impressive!  Looks like I'll have to crack open the L.L. Bean catalog the next time I get it :)
