A beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, that is popular for surfing. A great left and right peak breaking over mild rock bottom but very user friendly for beginners all the way up to professionals.
I just returned home from a dream vacation to Puerto Vallarta Mexico for my cousin JR and his new wife Susan's mind-blowing wedding. The trip was all about the wedding and a great family vacation. Little did I know the area we stayed called Punta Mita had a little surprise waiting up the coast for our group of surfers of all levels of experience. A spot called "La Lancha" that we were so kindly guided to by the local surf school's boat captains. I didn't have my own surfboard with me but luckily the boys down there had a fairly wide selection to choose from. As we came around the point after about a ten minute boat cruise, we pulled up to a mild little left and right peak that looked a little bit like a San Onofre style wave that was perfect for the beginners in our group to enjoy safely. The wave was a little bit soft and slow to start but the longer we stayed out it gave the tide a chance to drop a bit and this slow llittle "San O" peak worked it's way into more of a Lower Trestles type of wave that catered to some high performance surfing! I was shocked to even get a chance to surf down there at all, and ecstatic when my cousins wedding/family vacation turned into a full blown surf trip for three out of the five days spent in the tropical heaven! I highly recommend the entire area of Punta Mita, Mexico for anybody and everybody to vacation, but will now pass this on to my surf nazi friends as a great place for a surf trip! Thanks again JR and Susan!
Great review Roddy... i need to get that gopro footage uploaded so you can include it here. I should also set up a topic for the surf school guys. they did a good job and deserve a good review.
