Hey gamers its Kwing here, welcome to another Game Knights video review. This is Little King's Story for the Nintendo Wii. A big game fit for the little king in all of us. The games story begins with a little boy playing a with small box of sorts, when a bunch of rats appear and scare him! The boy chases them off into the woods. Where he discovers a magical Crown, and once he puts it on discovers that he can control the minds of others. A Knight called Houser claims the little boy as the true king of Apolko. He then tells the young King, that it is his Job to conquer...er unify the world. Which the little King seems greatly excited by this.

Little king borrows from a lot of different game genre's like RPG's,Simulation,Harvest Moon,RTS and even Pikmin. The game is divided into 4 categories, Exploring the world, attacking nearby villages and kingdoms Conquering them, completing many quests to expand your kingdom and lastly cultivating your kingdom so it continues to grow.

The Main concept for this game is conquering the neighbor states to unite the world.  First Players start off with a small huts and lazy towns people. Its your job to put them to work! A the beginning you can train only a few farmers and workers, but as game progresses you unlock more classes. Each class has an important use too. Which you will need these new resources in order to progress through the world and . Only by exploring do you get more resources, increase your kingdom and make new jobs available to you. Otherwise the King is limited to where he can go, so this requires you to do quests whenever you can. Completing a quest gives you lots of money, expands the kingdom, which in turn creates more jobs and a bigger army.

Once you have the Royal Guard you can venture into tougher locations to duke it with 1 of 7 Kings. While in enemy territory you to multitask like crazy, like fending of lots of enemies, protecting the king, collecting items, building new pathways and kooky boss fights. The Kings come in all shapes and sizes. Each fight is different from the last and will always keep the player guessing. After beating a King you rescue or kidnap one of 6 princesses.

This is where the Sim element comes from. Each princess will give you a quest for her heart and each on varies. Apricot will as you to search for red signs and Only by completing her quest can you pick her to be your Queen. The final element of this game is maintaining your kingdom and keeping your people happy. By sitting on the throne and talking to Houser you can upgrade different parts of your kingdom and beef up your army. Players can collect taxes by sending troops into people's houses and keep up PR by checking the suggestions box and reading your mail.

The gameplay for the most part feels like a Pikmin game, you the camera around with the direction pad, call your troops with the Button and issue commands with the A button. This mostly results in you throwing your troops at any enemy or object. Like any RTS game you strategy is key. Knowing what troops to use and have on hand could be the difference between victory and defeat. The game even on easy is pretty challenging, but most of the time, the game is pretty forgiven and allows players to try again. Hoping through trail and error you will succeed. The game does have a few issues though.

For one for a Wii game, this has not motion controls at all. The commanding of the troops is done with the joystick. Which can make things pretty difficult controlling vast solders into battle. By pressing the Z button you bring out a pointer but it doesn't make things any better. The game relays on you unlocking new formations and until you do your solders will have a difficult time walking up bridges and falling off ledges. This is a small complaint but combined with all the back tracking you have to do, it gets pretty annoying really quickly.

The game uses annoying gibberish - kind of like Animal ease from Animal crossing. but unlike city folk there is no way to switch it off.
The game's humor is mix of child and adult themes, which I found rather odd. So Parents should keep that in mind, when getting this game for your children. Just like Pikmin you have no way of carrying an health or power ups for the king. However; players can heal troops by jumping into baths located through out the world. Only by going to sleep can you mend the kings wounds. I wasn't a huge fan of the Pinball boss fight, in fact it wasn't until i upgraded my solders was I able to defeat him. I also wasn't a fan of the 3rd king either. And I'm going to show it but I hated the Giant King as well.

The stuff to do in this game is almost endless and will take a really long time for you to complete everything. Once your able to build the cow cannon, you can explore the map much faster and this cuts down on the back tracking a lot, which i was really happy about.
One of the things I liked about this game expanding the kingdom. I like how it shows, the kingdom before and after. Questing was a lot of fun and each quest earns you lots of money and gives you different odd jobs to do for your people. It wasn't actually tell after the 3rd princess that started to really enjoy this game. Exploring the different kingdoms was a lot of fun and I liked how it was twist of story book and Japanese folklore. I felt it meshed together nicely. The music is wonderful in this game as well and done by composers Yutaka Minobe and Yoko Shimomura of Kingdom hearts fame. The world music is a new spin on classical music - with out standing arrangements, which i feel added to the experience 10 fold.

I like how this game puts a price on human life too and how the aim is to not lose troops in battle. But if you do lose some troops, sometimes they wash up on shore by the beach. I thought that was kind of cool. The game also allows boys and girl troops to get married and start a family, with a little push from the king. All you do is scoot them both into the Church, I like this king he places  morality above politics. Anyway All in all this was an excellent game, but at the same time it capitalizes on a lot of other genres to combine into one mega game. If you guys like Pikmin,RTS or Sim games, then I think you will enjoy it. The game has deep rich worlds to explore, simple gameplay, out standing music, RPG,Sim and Harvest moon elements, Lots of quests, content, decent replay value, not a push over and its a fun game. So Game Knights gives Little King's Story an 8.7/10! Keep in mind this game is for the more for RPG and RTS crowd. So casual gamers may be turned off. But if you like Pikmin or Harvest moon then I think you'll like this game. Well that does it for me, thanks for watching another Game Knights video review, keep it here from more of Swag's Interviews, news and our Radio program every week. Keep it here from lots of new stuff coming this fall. This is Kwing saying God bless and happy gaming. until we meet again gamers.
