All you need is love album

Pros: Post Sgt. Pepper's, great songs and arrangements

Cons: A little melancholy and wistful

Magical Mystery Tour was the direct follow up to Sgt. Pepper's and many of the songs would fit just as well on Sgt. Pepper. Perhaps they could have made it a double album but that's besides the point.

Many songs here are instant classics, "I am the Walrus", "Fool on the Hill" "All you need is love" "Strawberry Fields" "Penny Lane" and many others. The Beatles here are still in their psychedelic mode full of optimism and humor. The songs are very well crafted and create an overall feeling of well being and hope.

Many of the songs are nostalgic and it's as if the Beatles realize for the first time what they have become and know that they can never go back. Most of nostalgia is beautiful but a little sad too. Srawberry Fields has struck me as on of John's most beautiful but most melancholy as well. It's a song about not fitting in and not being sure which direction to take in life but that it's ok. "Nothing to get hung about"

A solid trippy Beatles album that I have always loved very much. A great addition to any rock collection.
