Every 4 years people around the US get fired up for the World cup and for a few brief months the MLS has the opportunity to capture the audience and get them fired up for MLS soccer. As a world cup fan, why does the MLS playoff structure make no sense? Is there a better way?

The MLS playoff structure is terrible! It makes no sense and was implemented only to engage the American non soccer fans. Most leagues don't even have playoffs for soccer and stick to a single table which works great. MLS needs to fix this asap, because it is really unfair that the LA Galaxy who went into the playoffs with the best record have to start the playoffs playing the 4th best team in MLS rather than the 8th best team. Best way to fix this. Drop the playoffs all together. If the playoffs can't be dropped then seed the teams based on their regular season record and go from there. I wouldn't be surprised if this is changed next season.
