While I haven't served in the US miltary or have any immediate friends or family that have served our country, I do what Madpenguin does and take a long moment of silence to honor the men and women that died for their military services, in the true spirit of Memorial Day.

A Quick Tip by Madpenguin

This is a day that actually means a lot more to me than barbecues and family get togethers. I have lost a few friends who I served with in Iraq and Afghanistan. For the last 7 years, I always take a long private moment of silence on this day.

Military or not, I honor those who've fought their own battles on Memorial Day.

Memorial Day weekend usually hits me as a weekend for honoring those that we have lost, time for friends and family, possible shopping sprees and a game-opener type weekend to the summer season. Honoring those that we've lost on Memorial Day is most important to me.
