What did 2007 bring us? The final Harry Potter book, a total luna eclipse, the Selene space craft launch and unfortunately, Metro Stations second album "Metro Station" (Inventive aren't they!?). Not only does this album have a extremely cliche and dull feel to it, it's mindless, un-meaningful lyrics mix with the un-bearable guitar and synth sounds so much you can barely hear them (although that could be a good thing as the singer seems to lack what is needed when in a band - talent).
Since the release of the album they have released two singles, "Shake It" and "Seventeen Forever" both of wich have a smilar amature, wanna-be electronic sound to them. Not only this but the lyrics are predictable and obvious -
Tonight you're falling in love, Let me go now ,This feeling's tearing me up ,Here we go now.
How very teen no-body-understands-me "rock".
"Seventeen Forever" is very much the same. With boring lyrics such as "And I can feel your heartbeat, You know exactly where to take me" and "We're one mistake from being together."
On top of these boring and cliche lyrics, front man is Disney Star Miley Cyrus's brother Trace. I'm starting to see a pattern when it comes to Cyrus's and singing well in that they can't.
In issue number 1253 of Kerrang! magazine they discribed their album as a "Whining, electro-tinged whimper with lyrics heavy with cliche and the kind of pre-packed adolescent angst that sounds like it's carefully constructed for plasticky teen soaps and dull movie sound tracks" and I personally agree with every word.
There is nothing more to this band than their arm length tattoo's and heavily groomed aesthetic and over-obvious, inoffensive songs. Some one some where has a huge factory that produces eyeliner covered, emo haired, teenage pin-up boys and this band is fresh out of the factory machinery.
